Acting as a literal transition between representative work and abstracted work, Transition is a body of work that was created to exist on the borderline of reality and abstraction. These paintings grab onto specific, physical characteristics of landscapes with the exaggeration of certain elements to distort the full rendering of a tangible space. Using nonlocal colors alongside the painting methods of layering, scraping, and glazing, these pieces exist in a reality of their own- somewhere outside of our reality, but not completely outside of it where we can’t recognize them.
